Biography
Seattle-based photographer Nancy J. Edelstein was born in 1951 and earned her BFA from the University of Michigan in 1973, and worked as a professional designer and photographer through the 1970s, '80s, and 90s, opening her own advertising firm, Edelstein Associates Advertising, which would gain national recognition. She then furthered her education at the Photographic Center Northwest from 1999 to 2006 before returning to formal school to earn her her MFA, graduating from the Maryland Institute College of Art (MICA) in 2021.
In addition to fine art photography, Edelstein has printed and published handmade artist books with photographic elements, opening Biographica Custom Book Design in 2011, and through her graduate work, she has more recently turned her attention to interdisciplenary mediums within the realm of photography. She began exhibiting regularly in 2001, beginning with the Pacific Northwest Annual Exhibition at the Bellevue Art Museum, Washington. In October of 2021, '22, and '23 she was a resident artist at Boiler House Poets, MASS MoCA, North Adams, MA. Her work is included in the Bailey-Boushay House Collection in Seattle, Washington.
