Biography

Little information is found on the California printmaker Frederic Wingate Corson. It's known that he was born in Massachusetts in 1898 and served in WWI. He appears to have graduated from Amherst College in 1920 before moving to the San Francisco  Bay Area in 1922. He settled first in Berkeley and then finally in San Francisco, where he worked as a salesman for the American Crayon Co. while etching and painting on his town time. He exhibited at the Golden Gate International Exposition in 1940 and was a member of the California Society of Etchers (now the California Society of Printmakers). Corson died in the San Francisco Bay Area in 1967.
