Biography

Little information is available in our library or online about Albert Bitterlich, a German painter and printmaker known for his genre scenes. He was born in Bräunsdorf, Saxony, Germany in 1871. He studied at the Kunstschule, Dresden and at the Academy of Fine Arts, Munich, under Gabriel Hackl and Wilhelm Dietz. From 1905 to 1910 to lived in Fürstenfeldbruck and later settled in Munich. He exhibited mainly in Germany. Bitterlich died in Neuberg in 1960. His work is held in the State Painting Collection of Munich, among others.
