Painter Colestin Brugner was born in Dresden, Germany, on November 14, 1824. His formal art education began at the School of Applied Arts in Dresden and at Atelier Hermann under Schimmel. He died in 1887. Despite a prolific career and inclusion in several museums and private collections throughout Europe, little is found on his life or career. He focused primarily on romantic scenes of German rural life and landscapes.
