Biography

Myron Chester Nutting, painter, printmaker and educator, was born in Panaca, Nevada on October 18, 1890. He studied at the Boston Museum Fine Arts School and the Art Students' League in New York before continuing his studies in Paris with André Lhote  at Académie Julian and Maurice Denis at the University of Paris. He returned to the United States and taught at the Layton School of Art in Milwaukee and in the 1930s he moved to Los Angeles, California where he taught at Chouinard. Nutting lived in Dallas, Texas in the 1950s but returned to Los Angeles the following decade.

He was a member of and exhibited with the Wisconsin Society of Painters and Sculptors, the San Antonio Art League, and the American and Texas Watercolor Societies.

Nutting died in Los Angeles on Angeles on April 3, 1972.
