Biography

Dennis Corrigan, an American illustrator known for his style of drawing was born in 1944. Corrigan was quite a diverse artist, taking interest in etching, sculpting, and painting while studying at the Philadelphia College of Art and receiving a bachelor in Fine Art in 1966. He then received his Masters in Fine Art in 1972.

 

In 1972, Corrigan exhibited his first major show, which became the kick-start in his career. He showed throughout the United States and in other countries such as Japan.  Corrigan received commissions to illustrate in New York Times, New York Magazine, RCA Records, Pan American Airways, and many others. He also wrote and illustrated two books, The Amusement Park and the Spotter. Corrigan's work displayed a bond between surrealism and bizarre imagery.

 

His original work of paintings and prints are today in the collections of the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, the Brooklyn Museum, Philadelphia Museum of Art; the San Francisco Museum of Art, the Newark Museum of Art, the California Legion of Honor, located in San Francisco, California, the Library Congress in Washington D.C., and the Art Council of Great Britain.
