Printmaker and painter David Smith-Harrison was born in Salt Lake City, Utah, in 1959. His formal art education began in 1977 at the Utah State University in Logan, Utah, where he attended on the Utah State Sterling Scholar scholarhip from 1977-78. While there, he studied for a semester at South Glamorgan Institute in Cardiff, Wales, where he would return to study full time from 1981 to 1983. After returning to the States he enrolled at the University of Utah at Salt Lake City, where he graduated im 1984. He began exhibiting in 1983 at the 59th National April Salon in Springville, Utah, and by the late 1980s he had expanded to shows throughout the US and abroad. He continues to live and work in Utah.
