Biography

Printmaker, collagist, and painter Jeanne Garant was raised in Nashua, New Hampshire. Her father was a carpenter and her mother was a cothing designer, and she credits this environment with influencing her work. She first studied art at River College in Nashua. After marrying, she and her husband relocated to Washington, D.C., where Garant earned her BA in Art History from George Mason University in 1976. She also took courses at Northern Virginia Community College, the Art League School, and the Corcoran School of Art. She became a member of the Torpedo Factory Art Center around 1980 and continues to operate a studio there. 

Garant has exhibited at the National Collage Society, Cleveland, OH; Sharon Arts Center, Peterborough, NH; Printmakers Exchange Exhibit, Belfast Northern Ireland and Dublin, Ireland; National Institutes of Health, Bethesda, MD; and the Art Expo, NYC. She regularly exhibits at Touchstone Gallery in Washington, D.C. She currently lives in Arlington, VA.
