Norma Pfaff was born on February 15, 1942 in Hastings, Nebraska. She got her BFA degree from Bethany College in Lindsborg, Kansas. She has taught art in the Falls Church, Virginia City Schools. Pfaff has done independent study with Don Brown, Karen Kunc, Penny Barringer and Liz Wolff.

Interested in all aspects of printmaking she learned the Provincetown technique of white line color woodcut, a relief process, which she has elaborated on using linoleum blocks and water base inks. She colors the whole plate at once, using a brush and prints the image in a single process. Pfaff’s work has been exhibited extensively and are in a number of collections, including the Library of Congress, Georgetown University and Portland Museum of Art.
