Biography

Painter and printmaker Richard Allen Morris was born in Long Beach, California, in 1933. Self-taught, he began exhibiting at age twenty-six in Southern California and was given his first solo show at the La Jolla Art Center in La Jolla, CA. He has since shown in galleries throughout the U.S. and Europe. He relocated to San Diego in 1956 where he continues to live and work today. In 2021 a show of his works, titled "Multiple Identites", was held at the Häusler Contemporary Museum in Zurich.

His work is held in the collections of the Museum of St. Gallen, Switzerland; the Daros Collection, Switzerland; the San Diego Museum of Art, CA; the Museum of Contemporary Art, Los Angeles, CA; the Long Beach Museum of Art, CA; Museum Haus Lange, Krefeld, Germany; Museum für Moderne Kunst, Frankfurt, Germany; and the Museum of Contemporary Art, San Diego, CA, among others.
