Description

Solidarité is a portfolio of seven etchings and engravings that were printed at Atelier 17, Paris on ivory laid Montval paper. The portfolio was issued with the poem Solidarité (Novembre 1936) by Paul Eluard. The artists included Pablo Picasso, Joan Miró, Yves Tanguy, André Mason, John Buckland Wright, Dalla Husband, and Stanley William Hayter. Each work was individually pencil signed and numbered over 150. Solidarité was published by Guy Levis Mano on 15 April 1938 and it was sold to aid the Spanish Republican Children's Fund. There were also fifteen H.C. proofs numbered I/XV-XV/XV without the poem. This portfolio is missing Eluard's poem.
