There is a speculation among his friends that all of Jim Spitzer's many portraits in woodcut and acrylic are self portraits.

This woodcut was done in 1990 on plywood and printed by rubbing rather than using a press. Though editioned at fifty he didn't print more than a dozen. Like many printmakers, he left the option to print more should the image prove to be saleable.
