Description
The Point Lobos State Reserve is south of Monterey. Point Lobos is surrounded by the ocean, many hiking trails, and beaches. It is the site of a historic marine reserve, and it is also the home to a museum on whaling. Point Lobos is known for its wildlife protection and seascape, and incomparable local recreational scuba diving destination. The large cypress tree overlooking the ocean was planted in the 1800's, and it goes by many names, but most call it "Old Veteran Cypress".
