Description

Mount Rainier inspired Kristina Hagman to become a wood block artist, and the "36 Views of Rainier" is an homage to the great Japanese printmaker Hokusai's "36 Views of Mount Fuji", done between 1830, when the artist was 70 years old and 1835.

Mount Rainier is located in the state of Washington and is a National Park, the fifth in the nation, established in 1899. The volcanic mountain rises out of the landscape to a height of 14,000 feet.

Like Hokusai, Kristina Hagman's 36 color woodcuts show the mountain, in her case Mount Rainier - either clearly visible or sometimes as a small detail in the background.

This print has silver metallic ink throughout image.
