Description
Atelier 17 proved the primary art training of Seidler's prolific career as a printmaker. She studied at the Atelier when it first opened in New York, then again after a brief return to her English homeland in the late 1940s. In the late 1950s she began to experiment more broadly with color and abstraction in her printmaking. As seen in this color intaglio, the contained nature of line in her engraving makes way for the softer edges of etching and dark, muted tones.
