Paul Landacre did this woodengraving in 1941 to illustrate Donald Culross Peattie's 'The Road of a Naturalist', published by Robert Hale / Readers Union, London in 1946.

This impression is one of only two known signed impressions of this woodengraving. It comes through inheritance of an old San Francisco family who were friends of the artist.
