"Virginia City" was the fourth print of five offered by the San Francisco Chronicle on Sunday, March 31, 1940, in their fourth series of Contemporary Graphics. This landscape depicts the Nevada mining town Virginia City. In the foreground are the Union and Old Mexican mines and the church at right is St. Mary's of the Mountains. The scene looks down Six-Mile Canyon, past Sugar Loaf Mountain, and over into Carson Valley.
