This was the second of five prints offered by the San Francisco Chronicle on Sunday, March 31, 1940, in the fourth series Contemporary Graphics. Arthur C. Painter wrote about this lithograph: '"After Image of Brittany" was lithographed from a sketch which Ben Cunningham made on his trip to Paris in 1939. In the print the artist has shown his impression of the continual struggle between romanticism and practicalities so evident in Paris.
