Description
"Sierra Fantasy" was the third of five prints offered by the San Francisco Chronicle on Sunday, March 10, 1940, in their first series of Contemporary Graphics on Sunday. According to Arthur C. Painter, Bertrand was primarily a landscape artist, and he worked toward developing the essential character of his subject. He seldom ever sketched on the scene, but rather, absorbed the atmosphere then in the studio developed the "feel" which the scene creates. "Sierra Fantasy" represents no place in particular, but is rather a composite impression of rugged-serenity developed from many trips to the High Sierra.
