Description
An Evening Chat was originally published by the artist in 1910 for his portfolio of twelve color woodcuts, In the Hills o’ Brown. This image is also known with the titles Town Gossips and Village Gossips. As he printed the edition, Baumann altered the colors to create contrasts that evoked dusk or night. The sky is solidly printed in this impression but in others he created stars in the sky.
