Doel Reed moved to Taos, New Mexico permanently in 1959 and by 1960 had expanded his imagery to include a more Modernist vocabulary such as this dramatic New Mexico landscape with the ruins of an ancient adobe, creating a mysterious, surreal surrounding in blacks and grays.
