Description

"Composition PXOR" was done after the Editions Sonet raisonné was published in 1976. The image was published by Transworld Art and the image was used as a poster by them and the Alex Rosenberg Gallery for the 1981 San Francisco Art Expo.

French printmaker James Coignard's prints are sculptural, a kind of "Art Brut" approach using caborundum etching, engraving and collage to create a three dimensional surface, printed both relief and intaglio. He then collages on another small element, using a cord to attach it to the support sheet.

The resultant work is like having a section of an ancient wall that has been plastered, painted, graffitied and posted.
