A very finely executed view of Egyptian pyramids as seen beyond a lush, green oasis and the leggy forms of palm trees. Leo Frank and his brother Hans were known for their highly detailed color woodcut images, not only of local villages and landscapes, but also of the exotic lands they traversed in the early 20th century, capturing what for many in pre-globalism Austria were unattainable, nearly fantastic worlds. Here, awe-inspiring pyramids are bathed in golden light in the distance while blooms of rare greenery spread out along the sandy shore of a desert oasis.
