Though done in 1928 in an edition of 100 this image is rare. Many impressions are in museums throughout the country and in private collections. A muscular man, whose body is bisected with a shadow, adding to the effect of power, creates a dramatic image as he trudges through a barren winter landscape while shouldering what appears to be a huge Christmas tree - seen from the viewpoint of a child, an image larger than life and yet so familiar to many of us who grew up in the snow and accompanied our parents to select and harvest a tree.
