Description
"Trillium" was one of eight illustrations done for the book "Southern Harvest" by Leighton, published in America and England in 1942. This is one of 50 impressions printed separately as an edition. It would be impossible for the Sunday gardener to identify the true name of the Trillium illustrated here. Trillium is a genus of more than forty species of perennial flowering plants; many of them are native to the east coast and southern regions of the United States. In her woodengraving, Leighton captured the ribbed leaves and the delicate flowers of this moisture loving plant.
