Ezio Martinelli often depicted physical performers in his abstract work, likening their forms and movement to a kind of kinetic sculpture. In this image, two figures are climbing the rungs of a spidery scaffolding, their bodies as much a part of the structure as the steel bars themselves. This piece was done around the time that Martinelli worked at Atelier 17 in New york.
