Description
Riguad is a an ancient hilltop village overlooking the Cians Gorge in the Alpes-Maritimes department of southeastern France. Above the village is the ruins of its medieval fortress, a former command post of the Templars. Rigaudum is cited in the 13th century as a fiefdom. Rigaud was one of the four Templar settlements in the Var Valley. The population of Rigaud in 2008 was just over 200. Augusta Rathbone discovered and sketched the village on one of her many excursions throughout France.
