Description
Broad sweeps of color and loose, gestural shapes are staples of Rathbone's compositions. In the early 1930s, the California artist was living in Paris where, in collaboration with master printer Alfred Porcabeuf, she created a series of images of her home state's Sierras. In "Glen Alpine" her minimal, Modernist style elegantly captures the open landscape of California's rocky eastern terrain.
