Biography

Ruby Sterling Morris was born in Chicago, Illinois on January 14, 1924.  

She studied at the Art Institute of Chicago and the University of Chicago in 1943-44; Layola University in 1949; Joslyn Museum, Omaha, 1951 through 1956; London Polytechnical Institute, London, 1958 and the California Art Institute in San Francisco, 1961-62. Ruby taught at the Katherine Branson School in Ross, California from 1969 through 1973.

She worked in painting, drawing and collage and had one-person exhibitions at the Rex Evans Gallery in Los Angeles in 1963 and 1964, the Esther Robles Gallery in Los Angeles in 1976 and the Annex Galleries in Santa Rosa, CA in 1979. She also exhibited in numerous group exhibitions throughout California and Nebraska.

Ruby Morris died in Point Reyes Station, California on May 21, 2011.
