San Quentin State Prison inmate Henry Frank, a Yurok-Pomo Indian from the northern California town of Yreka, is a lifer convicted of conspiracy to commit murder. In Katya McCulloch's printmaking class at San Quentin, Frank creates linoleum block prints celebrating native scenes and forest animals which he signs "Hawk." His linocut Hibernation is in the collection of the Library of Congress.
