Wolfgang Rabl was born in Vienna, Austria in 1942. Rabl studied art at the Akademie der Bildenden Kunste, Vienna, in 1964 and 1965.  His work is associated with the German/Austrian surrealist movement known as 'Fantastic Realism' which combines extreme realism with either fantasy or elements of the unconscious.
