Hungarian born British citizen Agathe Sorel studied at Atelier 17 in Paris between 1958 and 1960, returning to England in 1960 where she established her own print workshop in Fulham and became an active member of the British printmaking world, where she continues to remain involved.
Agathe Sorel engraved and scraped the plate to create this gestural, expressionist print, her sixth intaglio. She printed the intaglio lines using black ink and printed the relief (plate surface) by rolling on color using various hardnesses of rollers and viscosities of ink, printing the whole image in a single pass through the press.
