Description

A Sierra Juniper grows out of the granite profile of a peak, poised above the fogline along the Sierra Nevada mountain range. Sierra, or Western, Juniper is known for its twisting structure, sculpted by the harsh, dry, windy elements of some of the highest elevations in the United States.

Richard Wagener grew up in southern California, spending time with his grandfather in remote parts of the desert and up in the Sierra mountain range. Of note in regards to his woodengraving technique is his exclusive use of single-line as opposed to multiple-line carving tools, meaning that each line is carved individually.
