Description

The red tailed hawk is sailing on an updraft, surveying its surroundings. The feathers of the red-tailed hawk are considered sacred to many Native Americans and, like the feathers of the eagle, are sometimes used in religious ceremonies and rituals.

A notable American wood engraver, Wagener's works are held in over 100 public collections in the United States and England. He was awarded the Oscar Lewis Award for contributions to the book artsWagener engraves each line individually into the end-grain of the block, not with a multiple line tool.
