Description
Howard Smith depicts a herd of horses running out of the gate of a wooden corral, plumes of dust rising around them, the stern profile of a mountain range in the distance. The horses, like a wave, move in fluid unison. This romantic Western image could be a depiction of the Colorado Rockies or the Eastern Sierra High Country, as Smith frequently traveled throughout the western and southwestern United States to capture the landscapes he loved so well.
