Description
"Little Pink Plum" was done in 1913 and is illustrated in color on page 60 of the catalogue raisonné. The raisonné entry includes this quote from Theodore Wores's article on Hyde - "An American Artist in Japan" for the September 1889 Century Magazine: "The plum may be considered the favorite flower of the Japanese, for the snow has hardly disappeared from the ground when its earliest blossoms burst forth and are hailed by the delighted people as the first token of spring." Note: This image shows a wrinkling that does is not very apparent in person; it resulted from the printing process, as well as the water-based ink; the scanner compresses the paper, thus casting shadows.
