Description
Printmaker Micah Schwaberow studied color woodcut in Japan with Toshi Yoshida. Schwaberow did this portfolio of seven color woodcuts in the Spring of 1988. An accompanying typeset broadside states: "Homage to Monet / Seven Fragments / of / Compositions / by / Claude Monet / as Performed on the Woodblock by Micah Schwaberow." The woodcuts, which are housed in a folding gray cloth portfolio, include seven color woodcuts, each pencil signed and numbered, each matted with a 2py mats which are also signed, numbered and titled. The prints are titled, from left to right: 1. Field of Oats; 2. Bennecourt; 3. Branch of the Seine; 4m Near Giverny; 5. Field of Poppies; 6. Five Poplars; 7. Port-Villez.
