Description
When this image was published in "The Eclogues of Virgil: an English Version", it included text written in script across the bottom: "Untimely lost, and by cruel death / The Nymphs their Daphnis mourned with falt'ring breath." "Cypress Grove" is one of three prints that Palmer was working on when he died. They were partially complete and the artist's son, A.H.Palmer, finished the plates based on his father's instructions, given in the last weeks of his life.
