"Homage to Lucas and Pietro" was included in the Northern Illinois University exhibition: "David Driesbach Retrospective", 1991, catalog #48, illustrated in black and white, page 53.
Driesbach explained the technique he used to create this composition: "2 zinc plates, printed color viscosity (orange, reds, magenta, greens) etching, photo coopy transfer, selective wiping."
Recurring themes within Driesbach's work include figures of himself in a top hat and glasses, as if he is simply bearing witness to the surreal dreamscapes he is recording. Within "Homage" there is scratched into the plate the words, "I must be awake!" and other faint, memory-like words that suggest the viewer is being carried through the artist's own dream. Another recurring character that appears in this work is the runner with curly hair in the lower left of the plate.
