"By the Light of the Silvery Fish" was included in the Northern Illinois University exhibition: "David Driesbach Retrospective", 1991, catalog #47, illustrated in color, page 52.
Driesbach explained the technique he used to create this composition: "3 plates interlocked, printed color viscosity/a la poupeƩ (magenta, silver, red lake, thalo green, black, yellow surface roll, split fountain color roll) etching, soft ground and aquatint."
Recurring themes within Driesbach's work include figures of himself in a top hat and glasses, as if he is simply bearing witness to the surreal dreamscapes he is recording. Another recurring character that appears in this work is the runner with curly hair in the lower left and right of the composition; he also appears in "Homas to Lucas and Pietro."
