"Road in Tochigi Ken" was among the lithographs in the possession of Arthur C. Painter whose collection was an in depth holding of unsold lithographs from the San Francisco Chronicle's Contemporary Graphic Series. It is possible that MacRitchie produced this lithograph with this series in mind but it was not selected in the final cut. Tochigi Prefecture is located on the island of Honshu, Japan.
