Description
"Joyous Procession" was published as the 1956 offering for the Collectors of American Art, Inc., who acquired the complete edition of 100. A celebratory, musical image featuring abstracted figures dancing and playing intruments through the center of a textured color field, it exemplifies Neustadt's early-career style and mastery of the plate. She created this image about three years after her introduction to the Atelier 17 in New York. Already an accomplished artist before her arrival at the experimental printmaking workshop, she took to the intaglio medium with ease, becoming one of the original pioneering American abstract artists of the era.
