Elizabeth Keith depicts a young woman in a blue and white kimono, holding a blue and white umbrella for shade, while standing at a shop with a blue and white drapery used for shade. The shopkeeper ties up a blue and white Japanese Morning Glory. Her left foot rises from her sandal as she inspects the wares.
The Miles catalogue raisonne notes: " 'Blue and White took me years to evolve....The models were students at a Christian missionary school in Kyoto.' Edition 100, fewer printed, although reprinted by artisans as late as 1936. Part of a pair with No.98." (Black and White).
This impression is titled in pencil on the verso.
