Description

In the raisonné Laver notes about this work: "The pig farm owned by Madame Dulieu stood on the corner where Old Oak Road joined Wormwood Scrubbs. It was pulled down in December, 1909.

When the artist made this plate he was unaware that a drawing and an etching, based on the same subject, with the title "The Butcher's Shop", had been made shortly before by Mr. Frank Brangwyn, R.A."

There were 3 trial proofs of the etching before the published edition of 50. This was Hardie's 13th print.
