Description

An image in linocut of a "Zapatista" from the city of Tlaltizapan, one of the many unknown soldiers that accompanied Emiliano Zapata, the leader of the peasant revolution in Morelos.

Santamaria notes this about this print: "muchos fueron los hombres que acompaƱaron al "Jefe" Zapata, pero muchos murieron fuernom heroes anonimos, muertos en campana, de enfermedades o fusilados o en las escaramuzas de bblazos en las batallas contra el ejertcito del gobierno."

This roughly translates to English as: "Many were the men who accompanied the "Chief" Zapata, but many died anonymous heroes, killed at the sound of the bell, sick or shot or in the skirmishes of blasts in the battles against the government forces."
