Description
From the Georgia Museum book: "Leopoldo Mendez created a set of four corrido flyers in 1940 on the abusive practices of middlemen and hoarders. He shows them in the form of a grasshopper, the perpetual thief of crops. Each sheet has the same corrido, but a different image. The introductory line translates as: 'Sir Grasshopper Chapulin buys and keeps goods. / When there are shortages, famine begins.' The flyers were intended to inform farmers through humor, using the familiar medium of the corrido."
