Description

This portrait of British artist Joseph Stannard (1797-1830) was taken from a portrait by George Clint (1770-1854). The etching is printed on a white sheet of thin Japanese paper, collaged to a heavier sheet during the printing. It is signed and dated by Hunt in the lower right.

Hunt was born in Norwich, England on February 14, 1803. At some point he came to the United States. He died in Bay Ridge, Brooklyn, New York.
