"The Windy Summit" is one of William S. Rice's signature landscapes of the high Sierra. In his woodcut he successfully captured the beauty of nature as well as its force. An impression entitled "Wind of the Summit" is illustrated on page xii in "William S. Rice: Art & Life" by Ellen Sexauer. regionalist
