Description
John McHugh trained first in architecture, graduating cum laude from the School of Architecture at Notre Dame, 1941. After a stint in the war and teaching at his alma mater, McHugh moved to Santa Fe. It's here that he designed his most famous structure, the Santa Fe Opera House. In addition to restoring historic buildings, McHugh often featured Southwestern architecture in his fine art works. This snowy scene of a New Mexico church in winter exemplifies his love of both.
