This early, rare etching by Ynez Johnston was done while she was in Berkeley studying printmaking at UCB between 1948 and 1950. She would often experiment with the plate, printing it both intaglio and relief, in this case she printed it leaving a film of ink on the plate. She did not produce large editions, mostly proofs which were given to friends or other students. This impression is from the collection of her friend Gerald Nordland and is dedicated to him and his wife Paula.
